The most beautiful thing in Helsinki

I don't know why it's still not the symbol of the city! It's something marvelous, definitely my favorite spot in the city now.

Beautiful church. Worth a trip. Good thing to on a rainy day. The inside is different from what I expected since it's very bright and warm.

We can view this church tower from my friend's apartment. After lunch we are looking this church around and finally found it during a walk back from playground. The exterior design is really fascinating. My wife commented that this building reminds her to medieval age movies about knights and wizard. There is a park and benches in the yard so... More

Unfortunately I was here well after opening hours had finished. I'd had a fabulous meal at the Sea Horse and had decided to walk down to Esplanadi for a few nightcaps at Kappeli. On my way there, I was astonished by this majestic structure. It was still that eerie not-quite-night you get in Finland in the late summer's evenings and... More

I had my eye on this church ever since I saw the twin steeples from a distance. I made my way to it on foot in the driving snow and immediately took shelter inside. It's very beautiful both inside and out and well worth the trip!

St. John Church stands high on a hill, where people used to burn midsummer fires, but it doesn't look Finnish. Swedish A.E.Melander designed it in 1891 to make room for ever growing churchgoing crowds. The style is Neo Gothic and the darkish interior is impressive in size. The altarpiece "Celestial Mission" is by famous Finnish artist Eero Järnefelt. My parents... More

St. John"s Church (Johanneksen kirkko) is a very beautiful church in Punavuori. I went to see/hear a Chrismas concert and it was really good. The acoustics is really good. I enjoyed it fully.
