This is the best way to travel to St Petersbourg. Best thing is that you don't need to stand any lines while passport control, just sit on your seat and border guard come to check your papers.

We take this train almost every year to travel from Saint Petersburg to Helsinki and back. Its an expensive way but fast way to travel. They should start selling tickets more than 60 days in advance.
