Everything is very close to Hämeenkatu when you're traveling at Tampere. From the railway station to the Metso (main library), there are plenty of shops along this street. Don't forget to pay a visit in the market hall (western side of the street).

All the shops and restaurants can be found on this main street splitting the city or just a few blocks from it. On the other end of the street there is the railway station and the Metso library near the other end. The library is also well worth visiting if you like architecture.

This is impressivie in Summer with the flower dispplays and a good place just to sit and enjoy a ice cream and watch the crowd. Generally quite busy on weekends. Historic 'Old' Church is at the square, and in winter there is the Christmas Market to visit

This is the main street in Tampere, it goes from The Central train station to the main library. There is good bus service in the city and you can go from the staion to the library(about 1.5km) if you don't want to walk. This is the main shopping street in town.

If you are going to Tampere on your first visit, like we were, make sure you go have a look at the Kauppahalli, the indoor food market located about half way down the Hameenkatu close to the department stores.
