Finish sauna

Must to go if visiting in Tampere. Feel the finish sauna culture. Lovely place with great atmosphere. Remember own sauna drinks.

Sauna is heated by wood, which is pretty rare or even unique with public saunas. Water has to be thrown inside the heater from the front, I have seen a similar system in Russian Karelia and in Sauna Arla in Helsinki. This reminds me of Arla, but Arla has an actual locker room and showers and is heated with gas,... More

Very relaxed athmosphere in a traditional setting. No lake for swimming but people cool down outside. Cosy allthough some of the locals might give you few advice on the "sauna rules". But don't mind, they all mean well and add to the experience. :-)

The real deal. Smoke sauna where locals get their sauna fix. As authentic as it can get, a must do in Tampere.

This is one of the oldest public saunas still operating in Finland. The sauna is wood heated which gives a nicer warmth then electric or gas heated saunas. I really liked the löyly (steam) which fills the space slowly when thrown. The sauna is visited by a lot of locals (alway a good sign) and next to it is a... More

There are not many public saunas left in Finland and therefore you should grab the chance to visit this one when you're in Tampere. It is the oldest public sauna in whole Finland and it is located in the middle of a residential area. When entering the yard, you will be greeted by steaming bodies on benches happily chatting with... More

This is the must to do while you are in Tampere. You can experience the waves of history and the tradition of Finnish sauna tradition. This can not be described in words. It must experience for yourself. Around the sauna environment has also a possibility to get the massages, but they must be ordered in advance. (http://www.rajaportti.fi/hieronta.html)

This is simply a great sauna. It is located in the old workers' district Pispala, a bit of a way from the centre but very accessible by bus or taxi, and even the walk is not prohibitively long. Unlike the other two public saunas this one does not have mixed sauna (in those people wear swimming trunks etc.) but one... More

One of the finlands oldest saunas. This sauna is almost same as when it was build. Good service. Lots of regular customers, but also lots of foreigners too. Cheap price and cafe has has some beers and ciders. Can't drink in the sauna, but while cooling down outside, its ok.
