Aboa vetus and ars nova combines medieval ruins and a historical exhibition to contemporary art. The medieval ruins were discovered during the renovation of the villa Rettig (build in 1928) - and turned into a unique underground museum. You can walk on the actual medieval...More

A wonderful concept – an archaeological dig revealing the cellars of the old town, with a really good contemporary gallery above. The archaeological part is engagingly presented to capture anyone’s imagination, and the gallery is excellent. When we were there is was showing the work...More

A historical museum built around archaelogical excavations showing how people lived hundreds of years ago in this town. Interesting details found in the excavations and instructive information boards on the walls. Nice café and good museum shop.

In this museum you can see the ruins and things found in medieval Turku – and then see modern art, too. There is nice museum shop (I always find something to buy) and good cafe, too. Peaceful and nice place indeed.

A great museum to take the kids or grandchildren. Exhibits make an effort to make it exciting and educational for children. It can get a bit rowdy when there are a lot of kids around but an interesting place to visit.
