The change from Catholicism to Lutheranism is very evident in the austere decorations of the cathedral. The building is interesting, a mix and match on the outside and very nice on the inside with high vaults. The park and trees surrounding are also nice.

Me and my husband were here a sunny and warm day in June 2017. We have visited many cathedrals all over Europe and thought this was one of the most beautiful. Just plain gorgeous! If you have a physical handicap the way in have some...More

Beautiful cathedral and amazing building. Many little details to notice on the walls, floors, etc. Only thing that they should fix is that they only have QR codes for you to scan with the phone, but nothing written for the tourists. If you want to...More

This big and messy-looking brick pile looks impressive but shaggy from the outside. Inside, things are neater-looking but equally impressive. As in most churches in Finland, the prayer books are stacked and available for reading on the honor system.

Underestimated by locals, this 13th century cathedral embodies the history of Turku and Finland in many aspects. The guided tours are excellent and very tourist-friendly. The cathedral grounds also hold many monuments that are at the core of Finnish (and Swedish) history.

Wonderfully peaceful, yet majestic building with plenty to see. Located on a beautiful place next to the river. Easy to walk to from the city center.

Having visited many of the major cathedrals in Italy and France, it is nice to be in cathedral that is relatively unadorned and modest. This is a huge cathedral with an imposing spire, a grand entrance, vaulted ceilings and enormous columns, an incredible organ and...More

Interesting to see it's not very decorated from inside. We visited just when there was some concert rehearsal and enjoyed just sitting and listening.
