Beautiful in winter when the garden is full of snow. Just keep to the paths to be safe. It was so quiet I could hear the snow falling.

The main botanical gardens were closed during our visit but we enjoyed a walk around the grounds in the snow. There was a lovely gazebo and various busts of people to look at. Very pleasant even in the winter.

This botanical garden is really unique located so far north on the globe. I recommend it to all tourists visiting Akureyri. The park was founded by women in 1911, when Iceland had been so bereft of trees through the centuries, that few people believed in...More

A nice walk around, although obviously not the time of year for plants and everything was covered in snow. I was there for the geocaching.

January is definitely not the best month to visit the garden, but it was still beautiful covered in snow. It had a magical feel to it with the lights a and the green gazebo. Definitely a winter wonderland!

If you visit Akureyri this garden is a must see, even during winter. You must read the story behind it but this garden was build by women. During summer the garden is bloom and so beautiful.

Our bus tour gave us an hour at the botanical garden. It was interesting to see the variety of flowers and shrubs that grow at this northern latitude.

Just up the hill from center city Akurevri is a botanical garden where one can wander around and see various flowers and plantings. The day we were there, downtown was crowded with tourists while the gardens were almost empty except for a few families with...More

Hello Mary, I was in the botanical garden just a few days ago, and many of the plants are already in bloom, so by mid-June it will be lovely :) All of Akureyri is blooming these days with more green popping up almost each... More

No. They put prices in there own currency, and expect people to be able to deal with that accordingly. We had cash with us, but we also had a standby of prepaid 'cash cards'. Ours were cashcards in £ sterling, so that we... More
