Nice building arcitechture. Designed specifically as a theatre for the performing arts, Hof Cultural and Conference Center also plays host to conferences and important meetings, receptions and exhibitions. Inside is also a visitors center with lots of information on the Akureyri area, good restaurant and a tourist souvenir shop. Very helpful and enthusiastic staff in the information Centre and shop. Beautiful and impressive building .

Nice looking building in the heart of Akureyri. Visited this center in the morning and it was bustling with activity. A chess tournament as well as some other unidentifiable classes were in full gear. Great architectural design leads to some nice photo opportunities on the harbor. Inside there is some artwork honoring the first Icelandic woman to vote - Wilhelmina Lever. On a side note, there are nice public restrooms located in the basement level of the center. You can park in the lot or walk from across the main street to find these nice, clean, public restrooms.

Hof is one of the most interesting building in Akureyri. A great cultural center. It also has the 1862 Bistro which is quite nice and I also went into one inhouse concept store. I very nice one that does NOT sell the Ittala vases.

There are signs to the visitor/information center until you get to the parking lot, then it isn't clear where it is. It's on the ground floor of the Center. Because we didn't know how to pay for the toll tunnel leading into Akureyri from the east, we were so happy the staff led us to a computer set up for this and walked us through the process. If you don't pay within three hours, you pay more. There's also a nice gift shop and toilets downstairs. They gave us directions for the things we wanted to see, and were very helpful.

We left our cruise ship and walked here. We gathered information on the region from the pamphlets, advertisements, and from the helpful staff. It is also a community center full of kids.

This is a beautiful building with lovely coffee shop which looks out over the river and fab gift shop but the icing on the cake is the manager of the visitors centre ( her name begins with b) excellent impartial advice - she is independent so no hidden agendas here. She recommended a great tour or us and helped us organise a trip to sigulfjordur on the public bus, and went way beyond her duties by phoning us to let us know the ski slopes were open and even offering to take us there if we couldn't find a way! So lovely and made our trip! Cannot recommend highly enough

We visited here to seek advice on how to pay the tunnel toll fee and ended up receiving much more useful information regarding weather conditions, advice on which roads to take, etc. We visited during a violent snow storm and were extremely anxious about the weather conditions and the state of navigating the roads with our non-4 wheel drive car. In the end, the staff gave us great advice and were extremely professional and calming to us. I would highly recommend anyone visiting here to seek help and consultation on any travel or weather issue.

We headed straight here when we came off the ship as it holds the Travel Information Centre, the staff were very helpful, a good map was provided, as well as some good info on places to see. Talking to other people they didnt get to see the things we saw. Thank you for your help.

Whether you go to a concert or event or just visit the building, this round culture house right on the edge of the fjörd is an absolute stunner! I have visited many times since the Autumn of 2010, eaten some lovely meals in the Bistro and attended events. Nowadays, there is also an upstairs seafood restaurant, but I have never tried that.

Tourist information is inside the Hof, even when the office is closed local events and info are clearly posted.

On Saturday 20th April I went to concert. Hof, really know how to stage an event and make it magnificent! If you get the chance - go to Hof!

I went with my adult son but there is no section for that in the drop down menu below so I have selected friends. Whether you come alone, go with family or someone special Hof is special!

1-2 hours will allow you to have a meal. If you attend an event you need longer. If you just pop in for a few minutes, you will, I am sure, be very impressed.

The tourist info people were the most helpful I could have hoped for, stellar & I don't say that for every place but they helped me with a vehicle repair that would have ruined the holiday if not fixed promptly. Ace!
The building itself is very interesting architecturally and has a cafe/restaurant, souvenir shop, books, maps, clothing etc all you could want plus a free (w/e) car park opposite. Handy for the harbour which is worth a visit and just stroll around in the area to see some of the older buildings in town and get an impression of how it has grown.
