Elding is a tour supplier in Reykjavik offering whale watching and other adventures at sea all year round. We are conveniently located just off Reykjavik's old harbor. The various types of whales commonly sighted include minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises and the popular humpback whales. We will be accompanied by sea birds such as gannets, puffins, guillemots, cormorants, gulls, kittiwakes, arctic terns, and many more. Check our online Whale Diary for daily updates on whale sightings. To make our tours even more comfortable, we provide our passengers with warm (and floatable) overalls and raincoats. For safety reasons, all children under 12 years of age are required to wear life jackets during the tour.

We 'saw' whales, all 4 kinds.... but I hardly saw anything because the animals were all 'straight ahead at 11 to 1 O'clock' and a huge family of four sat in front ... and the boat was never turned broadside... so I hardly saw anything...More

I decided to go whale watching with Elding. No fault of theirs but after 3 hours of freezing and rolling around the bay we only managed to see one small minke whale from a distance. Overall they ran the tour well but it was a...More

We had a great family trip to see the puffins on and around the small islands in the Reykjavik bay. The weather wasn't great, so the company offered sea sickness pills and chose a route with minimal waves. We had the option of wearing exposure...More

A nice trip just straight ahead out from the harbour in to the ocean. We were lucky with a calm day, otherwise sea-sickness probably would appear. A lots of mink whales, just the back of them. No head or back fin. Mink whales are quite...More

At the time of writing (June 2017) this tour cost €117 per person booked online via the Grayline tours website. This included pick-up from the nearest hotel, which in our case was right across the road (we were staying in an AirBnB apartment.) The tour...More

When we signed up for this trip there were suppose to be 15 to 20 people on the fishing boat. Only 4 people signed up for the trip. In Iceland the government covers the loss of revue for trips that don't have enough passengers. They...More

I went on the puffin tour. You need 30 minutes to get there and 30 minutes return. So far, so good. But the problem is that they stay only 15 minutes with the puffins. That's far too short. The island is not full of puffins...More

The whale watching was great with Humpbacks, Minke whale, Harbour Porpoise and White beaked dolphins. The guides are informative and very good! All credit to them. I found the tour a little bit short though. It´s a 3 hour tour but the thing is that...More

Highly recommend, amazing guide. We stumbled onto this at the dock because the tour fit with our schedule. It exceeded our expectations. We saw multiple types of whales. But my friends and I agreed that our guide Sabrina was amazing. She was informative, entertaining, and...More

Has anyone been on the Smyril line ferries around Iceland? I am researching it and can't find much on it? Sorry to jump into this forum but seems like it's the only way to find any information Cheers

Hello Kerrinny, The Smyril Line is a ferry between Iceland, Faroe Islands and Denmark - it does not travel around Iceland. Check their schedule online: smyrilline . com/sailing-schedule Best regards, The Elding team
