The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis are a spectacular natural phenomenon, often seen dancing around in fantastic colours across the Icelandic Arctic sky. The Northern lights are caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the North Pole. That creates this wonderful light effect, known as the Aurora Borealis. The locations visited are different every tour since we go where it’s most likely to see the Northern Lights each day. This tour is dependant on weather and sightings are not guaranteed. Refreshments not included.

Rúnar was amazing! He gave a lovely explanation of what the Northern lights are and was really chatty with brilliant English. After an hour in the coach we arrived in the field and he pointed out the lights to us. Unfortunately they weren't too visible but the photograph he took -at no charge- was lovely! It's a shame it's so... More

Stayed four nights at the foss hotel and had a trip to see the northern lights as part of the package so I was looking very forward to witness this amazing sight. First night was cancelled as weather was bad so was given another chance next night. Weather was given the OK the following evening so We were picked up... More

They knew full well that chances of seeing the northern lights was very very slim and took us out anyway. The weather was insanely bad and they didn't postpone or cancel. Just wanted to make sure we paid and we didn't get the chance to go on our 'free second chance'. rip off. Don't pre book check the forecast yourself... More

A great trip, it took 3 attempts to see the Northern Lights. Guides were very knowledgeable regarding camera settings. Picked up comfortably from our hotel.

When we got picked up from our hotel we spent 45 minutes driving out of the city, the tour guide was terrible when we got off the coach we had been given no instructions on what to do so we was all just walking around a field in the pitch black many people fell over. After standing around for about... More

Having only 4 days in Iceland I wanted to make it worthwhile....the Aurora is my absolute fave since seeing it in Finland this time last year. I went with Thomson and had a northern lights tour included on the first night where we 'saw' them as a hazy line in the sky so we weren't going out the next day... More

I took a RE northern lights tour back in November with friends. We were very lucky in that we saw the lights from the bus within 15 minutes of being picked up outside our guest house. The tour guide was clearly very knowledgeable and experienced, and he did a great job changing course to get us to a good vantage... More

+ Really an excellent guide and very friendly bus driver + Content of tour was very good + Guide told us a lot of fun and interesting "local" information + Give you a lot of freedom when visiting places although the instructions on returning to the bus weren't always clear so we did lose some people (and find them) +... Our tour was cancelled two nights running due to the poor weather, however we stayed up to date on this as they update their Facebook page if the tour for that evening is cancelled. If this is the case, they post a link for you to rebook the tour which is very easy to do! On the third and our... More

Although completely weather dependant, the company itself is quite flexible in rearranging other attempts. On our 2nd night (after 1st night cancelled) we went on the hunt after a very snowy day with little hope of seeing anything but fair play to Greyline, they took us 45 mins away to a remote spot that had clearer skies. There were a... More
