The exhibition Points of View at the Culture House takes guests on a journey through the Icelandic visual world of past and present. Artifacts and works of art from the varied collections of six institutions provide a reflection of Iceland's visual art history and cultural heritage. Artists with different backgrounds and living conditions have expressed similar ideas at all times. There are seven points of view to be found in as many wings of the Culture House, connecting what you'll see, independent from the medium or time.

Other than being free when you buy your National Museum ticket, this is a must see for anyone interested in Iceland art and culture. Well worth the time to explore.

We really enjoyed the culture house. The thematic presentation of the pieces and art is interesting, since we're so used to chronological order. I would say that I recommend visiting the National Museum first (to get the chronological sense & the free ticket to this...More

This is a bit of a strange place, actually, and just off the beaten track from the centre of Reykjavik. You get a free ticket if you visit the National Museum of Iceland. as everywhere else, the staff are very welcoming, and it is clearly...More

If you visit the National Museum you also get a ticket for the Culture House so we stopped in while touring the city. While the house itself is interesting the displays felt random and disjointed with no real connections to each other except they are...More

Housed in a beautiful four story building, The Culture House is true to its mission, featuring a variety of art from eras dating back to Iceland's early days of settlement. Note that admission is free if you've already visited the National Museum.

Every tourist should go here... Iceland has an incredible lineage of artists and storytellers. You like Game of Thrones? Lord of the Rings? Well many of the stories and creatures were taken from Icelandic fairytales and sagas. I loved the room about dreams and myths....More

We went here on our last day in Reykjavik and were pleasantly surprised. A wonderful, quirky Old building with a magnificent reading room and very well-done exhibit about Icelandic history and culture. From medieval manuscripts to traditional handicrafts and contemporary art, this was like a...More

To be perfectly honest, I thought the Reykjavik Art Museum would be more like what I saw at the Culture House, a microcosm of Icelandic visual art that would give me a sense of the country's culture and history. Granted it's more of a boutique...More

This is a small museum that is a collaboration between the National Museum and others in Reykjavik with selected pieces from each. If you pay admission you can get free admission to the National Museum on the same day. They had a very interesting selection...More
