This is definitely worth visiting if you have time. It's a short walk past the pond and it costs 2000ISK (about £14). There's a cloakroom and lockers where you leave your bag(s) so you don't have to lug your stuff around with you and there...More

Their permanent exhibit on the settlement and history of Iceland is very thorough and downright fascinating! Your ticket to the National Museum will also get you into the Culture House, and vice versa. For the price, you may as well go to both!

Like other museums in Iceland, the National Museum is well-labeled and offers an interesting look at the history of the Icelandic people. I for one was not aware of the religious background of the people, because it's not a particularly religious nation today. The exhibit...More

Fascinating historian journey through the history of the island and its people, we could have spent a half day here but with so much else to do felt we had to rush around. Fairly pricey to enter so best value for history buffs

We spent over three hours here. Very interesting and innovative exhibits. Good for older children too. Good signage in English.

We chose to visit the museum because the weather was so bad that we were limited in what we could do. Although the museum is a little out of the way, it is well worth a visit to see the history and development of settlements...More

This one stop provides a unique perspective of the entire history of the country, including subtle information that might otherwise be missed. This was very informative and interesting.

The National Museum of Iceland provides a deeper look into the history of Iceland and the people from the beginnings to modern day. The exhibits fit college age and up, being more on the academic side. There are two main floors with exhibits. First gallery...More
