Before you have fully passed under the archway into the Citadel, you will be welcomed by the majestic sight of Gozo Cathedral, across the small square at the top of a wide flight of steps guarded by two 17th-century bronze cannons. A walk along the fortified ramparts is rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Gozo’s hills and valleys, villages... More

Situated in Gozo’s capital city of Victoria, the Citadella is visible from almost all the Island, rising steeply above the surrounding countryside. The Citadella owns its roots to the late medieval era. The hill has been occupied since Neolithic times, before the arrival of the Knights of St. John, and it was also known as Gaulcouis Civitas. There is a lot of restoration & stonework going on, lots of scaffolding everywhere and many walkways closed. It was very frustrating. There are several museums inside the walls but all require separate entry fees

From WWII shelter to walls from beginning of the history, the Cittadella is amazing. A great view of Gozo, a beautiful church to rest and pray and a lot of good restaurants around. Must be see! PS: the site is "under restoration" but you can walk inside.

Great historic site with excellent views all round worth a visit not to many tourists. Parking can be a bit tricky. Be sure to go around sunset time.

Although massive restoration works are being carried out, the place has lots to offer. Worth a re-visit once completed

A place not to be missed while in Gozo.. even though, major works are going on but there are still ways and means to go around. Definitely, would go again once the works are completed.
