Not surprisingly, the high ground is a desirable defensive position, so both Mdina on the island of Malta and Victoria on the island of Gozo have fortifications built at these high points. In the case of Victoria, it is obviously smaller than the entirety of...More

Went to the citadel today. It is a little climb but well worth the time. They also have an elevator. Good views. You can walk around the outside and common areas inside. If you want to go into the areas of the citadel you have...More

Went to Gozo for Dwejra and had to transfer in Victoria so we went to the citadel. Glad we went. It’s a fortified city preserved so well. Walking in it was amazing. The view was very nice. Definitely recommend.

Amazing old citadel on the hill above Victoria. We had an hour to look around which was nowhere near enough time. You can go around the citadel for free, however there are a few museums here which will require a ticket to be purchased.

The citadel is quite compact and easy to follow way signs. The visitor centre is well worth paying the fee, it features regular structured tours based on language. This includes entertaining audio visual illustrating the history of the citadel, Gozo and Malta. It lasts about...More

I’m really taken with Victoria, more than Valletta, as it’s stunning, interesting and dead easy to get about. The Citadel gives you incredible views across the island and beyond. If you’re there you would be mad not to up

As you arrive there is a tourist shop which sells tickets at €5 each to view 4-5 different exhibits from the dungeons to the museum. There is also a €5 fee to go inside the cathedral. We paid nothing to walk around the Citadel and...More

Straight off the bus there is a beeline made for the Citadel. But it is immaculately preserved and full of historical references. The views from the walls are outstanding. There is plenty of detail of Gozo through the ages and the importance of the City....More

Definitely worth visiting, 16th century Citadel, the most interesting are the walls and the streets, the Cathedral and 2 museums are not great. The Archaeology Museum is excellent.

We first visited in 2012, pile of stones! We have witnessed the restoration over the following six years and the result is nothing short of magnificent! Everyone visiting Gozo should immerse themselves in this feast of history and architecture.

Yes, you can walk around the citadel at night, in fact it is a lovely time to see it, as there are no tourists around. The lights of various towns can be seen on Gozo which is also great to see. We wandered up there after... More

There's a small car park at the top of the hill next to the wall, very close to the entrance. We paid around 2€ for as long as we wanted.

Reference should be ok but check with the agent. He should have given you a phone number. Or ask your hotel to check.
