Wouldn't want to climb the steps. Must be 200 foot. Lift is free going down and free coming back up if you have the €21 weekly bus pass

I have fond memories of the old lift, so was very pleased when they renewed it. Situated near The Upper Barrakka Gardens

Quick and easy way to get from port area to upper Barrakka Gardens and into Valletta center. Park car in port area ( easier that in City) with good views at top.

Valletta sits on a very well guarded hilltop - its what made it so hard to attack! So any walking about is going to involve ups and downs, it can't be avoided. But you can take away some of the pain if you use the...More

Single Trip Down to The Waterfront. No charge to go down. No queue steady flow of people. Clean and quick and easier than the steps down.

If you are at the bottom it gets you quickly up what would otherwise by a steep climb. If you have caught the boat over to Three Cities then keep your ticket as it covers the lift price (making it free). I’ve given it 5*...More

Free to ride down from the Upper Barrakka gardens, but a euro to come back up. Worth it to avoid a very steep climb. Be aware that at this time the lift closes at 9 pm when the gardens close.

My wife and I went up in this lift. The cost is €1 going up and free going down. However, because we had a ticket from the 3 Cities Ferry, we could go up for free. Although there are good views as you go up/down,...More

I don't think so. Access to the war rooms is from the Upper Barrakka garden. The lift goes down to the 3 cities ferry terminal.

Ticket access machines at the bottom were not working early October just left open, but the pay machine was. Only one euro or your ferry ticket. The subsidy must be enormous, its not a lot to pay.
