Thoroughly recommend taking the chairlift up to the castle. Obviously saves you a tiring walk and the views are amazing. Be warned that there is a slightly tricky walk though the forest once you get to the top and head for the castle.

A great ride up the steep escarpment from the river to the woods above Vianden Castle, it provides a wonderful panoramic view down the Our River valley and up to the castle above the town. Once you reach the top, there's a cafe for a...More

The Vianden Chairlift is definitely worth travelling on, at least one way. The views are terrific and the cafe at the top is great for a meal stop. It's only a short walk to the Castle below.

The Vianden chairlift takes you to a hilltop beside the Vianden castle. From this point, the castle is a 15 mnutes walk. Through there is a path to reach the castle on foot, I think the chairlift route gives you the best views. It is...More

It costed 5Euro pp if I remember correctly. You can totally walk it up and down too as it is not very far but also a nice ride if you don't mind the cost. There is a cafe/restaurant at the end with an amazing view...More

We ranged from 56 to 89 years of age and had a great time on the chairlift up above Vianden castle and return. Definitely worth a visit.

There are 2 choices for teaching the Vianden castle from the main town - a 20-30 minute hike up the main st or the chair lift + a 5-10 minute nature walk downhill. The latter is much more unique and permits you to walk down...More

If you're in Vianden, take this chairlift. It's no wonder Vianden is so famous, the view with the castle, village, river and surrounding landscape is just stunning. And you don't even have to exert yourself for this view ;-)

Loved this chair lift, smooth ride with amazing views from the top. There was no waiting time, staff was friendly and helpful and it was also reasonably priced. I would recommend this ride if you are in the area

I didn't see people with babies but smaller kids. Walking to the top is also very short, pleasant, scenic and easy that you can definitely do carrying a baby.
