Lovely views excellent coves along the way very historical with several churches. Highlight of the day was the donkeys that were just wandering along the pathways. We had a huge bag of fruit and the donkeys came to the car window to be fed. Definately worth a visit even though its a long drive.

Dipkarpaz is a wonderful place to visit and stay if you look for a simple in nature holiday.
We visit Dipkarpaz peninsula every year as a family for a part of our summer holiday to have a great time in untouched nature. The weather is great-full of oxygen, the nature : untouched-there's no electricity at most places/only generators for some limited time, the sea-clear as crystal, the history : the Monastery, the old British customs building, Dipkarpaz village church and many more historical churches and sites on the peninsula, food is great, small places to stay, even bungalows nearby the sea, Golden Sand Beach is a must see... Don't forget to go over to the end of the peninsula to Victory Tongue, to climb the mini hill overlooking at the Mediterranean, worth seeing to limitless blue horizon. During nights, you can see the stars glittering with naked eyes and feel like the sky is the roof over the world. Dipkarpaz is a gift for my family each year which we look forward to see again. Make sure to bring some carrots and apples to feed the friendly free donkeys at the park:)

The peninsula lies in the far east of Cyprus island, this territory is not densily populated. There are just a few small settlements in the area, and here live the well-known wild donkeys. Their history according to our guide is as such: they were abandoned of people who were forced to resettle in 1974, and since that their generations living freely in the area growing more wild. They have memories of domestication left and that´s why they're patrolling the roads of the peninsula wishing to meet people and ask for food.
Far east part of peninsula is a National Park, preserving sand dunes, grassy and stony platoes, spinneys of St.Johns Bread trees and long sandy beaches where sea turtles come ashore and lay their eggs.
There are no hotels in the area, but there are a few campings with bungalows and restaurants. We have visited the Hasan´s Turtle beach, with few bungalows placed very near the amazing clean sandy beach. There is a good outdoors restaurant (if you can handle flies near your food) with really tasty fried recently caught fish. We came with a minibus, and besides us there were maybe 10 people on the at least 5-kilometers long sandy beach.
There are few old churches in the area, all of them with no service/not functioning, but it is possible to get inside and even light a candle if you have it with you. Ayios Thyrsos church lies very picturesque on the seashore, and there is a sacred water-spring in the basement under the church. On the eastern top of the peninsula is situated the Monastery of Apostolos Andreas, wery famous in Cyprus, currently it was closed for renovation.

After a thirty minute drive through the park, we spotted a couple of wild donkeys, then near roe exit that had assempbled for feeding by the tourists. Not a world shattering moment. The beach nearby was OK but not worth the trip. To spend five hours in a full coach doesn’t not justify this day trip. Stick to a boat tour is my advice

I hiked for 4 days around the peninsular and was extremely saddened by the amount of rubbish everywhere. My holiday was instead a sad reminder of what humans are doing to our planet. The locals fly-tip everywhere because they have to pay to dispose of their rubbish. The local council doesn't empty rubbish bins along the beaches and the amount of rubbish entering the sea is so sad. I didn't take photos of the worst of it but wish I had now so maybe people would start doing something about it.

We've discovered Karpaz in the 80ees.....and is still the same !
Donkeys, sheeps, turtles and amazing sea views !
Three hours flight from Milan, you may discover a world of centuries ago.
Congratulations to the Government of North Cyprus who has been able to preserve this piece of Heaven. even flattening the unauthorized dozens of wooden bungalows built in the last ten years.
Really an exciting experience !

A place to be visited although do not look for turtles as far too many bungalows are colonising the area (plastic bottles and bags are all over and that really is a horrible offense to that amazing nature).
I am not sure turtles have any place let for them but wild donkey are still there!

Be careful if you are in a hired car as some of the holes in the unmade road are quite deep. If you can get a jeep much better. Beautiful scenery to get here and when you get to the end just wild donkeys and sea. There is a small restaurant before you enter the peninsular where you can stop and have refreshments, also they have bungalows to hire overlooking the sea.

How much do I pay to enter this park
Written February 18, 2020
Its free to enter, just take apples or carrots for the donkeys

Who do I contact if one of the Donkeys looks injured?
Written September 6, 2019
Report it to the gate person or at the monastery is all I can suggest. Alternatively if you are on a coach tour ask your tour manager what's best to do. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Mi interessa sapere, se la meta è facilmente raggiungile con i mezzi pubblici e se qualcuno sa dirmi se da Famagosta parte qualche bus, Grazie

We had the same problems with maps but just kept following our nose and asked a few people. It is well worth the drive and the donkeys are great at controlling the speed! Views, beeches and scenery are all stunning but you need a whole day to explore.
