Although pictures were not allowed to be taken inside the Church,it is a must to be seen by people as it is one of the most beautiful Churches l have ever seen, you are able to take pictures of parts outside of the Church, the pictures on walls and where the Monks lived.

The monastery is not as big as some of the others, but on entry its surroundings are full of beauty, from the many rose bushes to the wall of tall pines that seems to fortify the place, from the back the landscape in the country side is breathtaking. The age is shown in the architectureal structure, the old beams and... More

From lasa it was an easy trip into the hills where we discovered the Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery. There was a Christening going on when we visited, which was interesting to see and when it finished the Monastery was beautifuly quiet and relaxing to stroll around.

We had a visit to the nearby Kolios winery as we fancied a trip out in the car and called in by going back to Emba a different route. The Monastery is in a beautiful location with amazing views. We didn't visit the room with the icons in as we were not made aware of it, but the church was... More

Beautiful and compact, the monastery is definitely worth a stop if you're driving around the area. Since it's quite small, unless you're a monastery enthusiast I wouldn't say it warrants a trip of its own. Of course the drive up there is part of the fun, and while you're in the area you can also go check out the ruined... More

Stopped here on the way touring the area in a jeep. It is very old & feels very holy. It has a nice peaceful atmosphere. We liked the beautiful paintings & icons. There is a small shop selling religious items. Outside is a small but friendly cafe , sheltered from the sun with mountain views.

Very rich Monastery, very much to see, worth going there! If you like mosaic's than this is the place :-) more than 300 large mosaic to see! Also you can see the two guards. One stands outside, the other inside (but you can see him) and they change spot every hour, you can take pictures.
