Small museum of great interest

One of a number of icon/Byzantine museums in Cyprus. Numerous icons of display but also textiles and miscellaneous religious artefacts.

We arrived at the entrance to this museum, asked the price (2.50 Euros each). There was a sign indicating no food and no photography but nowhere did it say you could not take your bags round with you. The woman on the desk was singularly unhelpful and said if we wouldn't leave our bags in the lockers we could not... More

We stumbled upon this gem of a museum whilst wandering around Paphos Old Town and I am so glad we did. It was definitely one of the highlights of the holiday!!! Entrance was 2.50 euros (I think) which is a total bargain!!! We spent a good hour looking at the treasures and talking to the amazing gentleman who looked after... More

This museum is tucked down a street in the old town and contains religious paintings that are centuries old. It was a privilege to see the many artists work. There are other objects too, like manuscripts and coins. Well worth a visit.

This small museum has some wonderful artifacts but the building is not well equipped to show these off. Lighting is poor and presentation is not always strong. However, it is worth a quick visit and get a real sense of the history of the region from a religious perspective.

this is a very traditionally set out museum, in fact, I may even admit very bog standard, hang it on a wall in date order type of display, locally run and at a guess I would say volunteer staff. for that, it is or seems to be run with affection and holds what we lack today in many of our... More

This was such an insight! Lovely staff, the chap at reception is lovely and very helpful! He even offered us a lift to another museum as it was raining. Such a nice guy!

Museum lacks variety of exhibits. Once you've viewed a couple of images of Christ/ the Virgin/ Crucifiction, then rest all seem rather the same, unless you have a really deep interest in icons.

Would have been interesting if they had been open when they said it would!! Luckily there are some really good places to have a drink and snack nearby!
