The old part of Monte Carlo or Monaco, the upper rock promontory up above the Port and the Fontvielle district. About the only part of Monaco that has been spared the developers and it has the Prince's Palace, Town Hall, cathedral and other important buildings.

A must to visit when in Monaco. We spent a couple of hours there and enjoyed the the history and views on this tiny country.

Take the train from Nice to Monaco and spend the day on the Hop on Hop off bus. Be sure to see all of the sights sequentially and get off to see them, as riding the entire loop first is a waste of time.

Day 3: Monaco is a gorgeous, pristine and luxurious principality with no borders separating it from France (literally adjacent streets). I absolutely loved it and recommend it. The old town is so authentic and too beautiful to leave. Start your walk at the Tourist Office...More

If you are visiting the Cote d"Azur Monaco is an easy stop on the Cote d"Azur train line. Stop for a cappucino on the waterfront to ogle the super yachts which truly defy description. They truly are floating palaces and if boats are your thing,...More

Vieux Monaco is located at the top of the rock. Dating back to the 1200's when most of the fortress/palace development began in earnest, the narrow winding streets would have also started their lives during these medieval times. Old Town is on the top of...More

Was lucky enough to have a guided tour with a local, otherwise we would not have seen all that we did. Lovely quirky streets , great architecture, amazing stories of past residents.. loved it. Didn’t expect to but I did

I don't know how much is a guided tour. But we did it on our own, it's a very small town/country, so can really do it on your own. You just follow the others. There is a tourist office in front of the port, so you can ask... More

The journey by bus from Nice to Monaco takes less than an hour and you can spend as much or as little time as you want once you get to Monaco. I would say allow at least half a day to make sure you see as much as possible
