It's quite a walk up the ramped stairs but well worth it. Also views of the beautiful palace and the Cathedrale Notre-Dame-Immaculee can also be reached from hereVisited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten April 21, 2024
- Veronika H81 contributionsBeautiful views in MonacoWhen in Monaco, visit this beautiful square near the Prince’s Palace. Be ready to climb up to the top, but it was worth it. Take your time to enjoy the stunning views on the harbour. There is a small shop offering souvenirs, you can also buy tickets to enter the Palace (some rooms are open to visitors). Near the square, you will find streets with restaurants, small shops and cafes.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten August 29, 2024
- BackinBracknellBracknell, United Kingdom1,569 contributionsBest views in MonacoIt's the top of Monaco and the views are stunning. Absolutely a must-see. Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place here and you buy entry tickets to the Palace from the Souvenir Shop across the square. Don't bother with the cafes and restaurants on the square - we found them to be overpriced and the staff rude when we tried a couple to get a drink. There are much better places a short walk away down the little streets of the Old Town.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2024

Although the Palace was closed (until April 1, 2020), I still enjoyed being in this large square looking up at the Royal Palace. The area was pretty empty (early February) which made the experience all the more intimate. I did see the Palace changing of the guard which was interesting. There is a gift shop at one corner of the square and the views overlooking Monaco from near the cannons is amazing.

The square in front of the palace is spacious and there were not many tourists, so I was able to sightsee at a leisurely pace.
The view of Monte Carlo from the edge of the square is spectacular.
It's nice to relax in a nearby cafe, but I also recommend buying a panini at the bakery and relaxing while watching the view.

Iconic point for panorama view of the city and entire harbour of Monaco. Courtyard is big but empty, very clean indeed. Change guards at 11.55AM everyday but I didn't want to wait around as heard it's always too crowded. It was nice enough for magnificent view and the route to walk up on top of the hill was pleasant. It's a highlight visit while you're in Monaco.

It was interesting to tour the Prince’s Palace in Monaco. Quite a few rooms are open to the public and they are so beautiful. There’s an audio guide included in the admission price & it’s very informative and easy to use. I definitely recommend going to see it.

We visited Place du Palais when we went to visit the Prince's Palace and the views of the port from here are amazing.
We purchased our lunch at a café on the edge of the square and sat and admired the view while we ate it.

For the best deal get your palace tour ticket and oceanographie ticket at the same time. When you come in the door they give you a head set in your language where you are lead through the palace while being provided with a plethora of information about each room. Bring head phones so you don't have to hold the speaker to your ear. The tour is not very long, but it still may not keep small children occupied. The palace is a beautiful site and I highly suggest visiting this site. We took the steps up the hill a couple times, but I think most people would prefer the bus service. The public buses are very safe clean and not that expensive. Tickets can be purchased at the tourists office just off casino square. I believe this site is not wheelchair friendly.

This is the main square in Old Monaco. It was loaded with people when we went but it was still a nice stop.

Trouver un parking avec ascenseur pour monter au rocher palais des princes
Written May 5, 2019

Is it necessary to buy a ticket for the palace prior to arrival? Are there benefits to doing it this way?
Written August 15, 2018
You can buy it on the day. Please buy the combined ticket which is for the palace and Oceanography museum. Some rooms are usually being restored so you see only a small section and it is quite a quick walk through but interesting. Do make it in time for the midday changing of guards. Depending on whether you are there in peak tourist season or not please be early to catch a good spot to watch this.
Written August 15, 2018
Best time to go 15 minutes before noon as it is the guard changing times
Written October 27, 2016
It is free of charge to visit .

Will the place be open for visitors Nov 10 & 11? Are guides available? Our cruise ship info says this closes in November. Can we walk there from port?
Written September 2, 2015
Yes it will be it's an open place area well worth a visit as there is nice cobbled streets with lovely restaurants and bars to stop for a drink and a lovely museum with rooftop bar with the most magnificent views all round . It's a bit like going into another little town, you can also get a tourist train which departs and returns here well worth doing the route .
