The building was designed by the architect Charles Garnier and commissioned by Prince Charles III in the 1870s. The theatre is located on the Mediterranean coast. In front of the building are busts of composers Berlioz and Massenet by the Russian sculptor L.A. Bernstam.

Without a doubt the most beautiful theater I have ever seen. Very comfortable armchairs, extremely suggestive decorations, perfect acoustics. It looks like a theater from times gone by, an authentic jewel.

Attached to the casino, this opera building is just as impressive, if not more so. It’s view overlooks Port Hercules. There is an attractive terraced courtyard in front. Although I did not attend the opera, the exterior is most definitely worth a look, especially if visiting the adjacent casino.

: HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, thank you so much for this amazing evening..globalocean ..
Teach your children everything we have taught ours: that the Earth is the mother of all. Everything that happens to Earth also happens to her children. Spitting on the ground is spitting on yourself. The Earth does not belong to man, it is man who belongs to the Earth. Everything is connected, like the blood that unites a family. What happens to the Earth also happens to the children of the Earth

If you can get tickets during the short opera season - try to go. World class opera in a beautiful intimate space at prices to make Covent Garden attendees weep!
Alas drinks in interval grossly overpriced !

On our trip to Nice, we booked a night at the Opera in Monte-Carlo - - how cool is that! The opera was wonderful and there are no bad seats. It is a small intimate theatre that has views of the ocean when the drapes are open. It was fabulous. Would recommend you arrive early, have lunch at the Cafe de Paris (next door) and then have a drink ($25 each drink, but worth the experience) at the Hotel Paris (also next door). It was a 5 Star experience!!!! R

another attraction was to enjoy the ballet, which was performed in the same building that houses the casino.
once you step inside you are transported back to another era.
the room where the ballet, as well as opera is performed, is faced with gold glitter, with the two royal boxes on either side.
the seats we had were unbelievable- FIRST ROW-DEAD CENTER!
There were two different ballets, with an intermission between, where refreshments were sold.
prior to you going, please check the website for when either the ballet or opera is there-they only have performances a few times a year at this facility.
the best way to travel there is either by walking or by taxi-most of the taxi's are Mercedes, all very well kept, with friendly drivers. most of the fares in Monte Carlo are around 10 euro.
the prices for these performances are quite reasonable, the Princess of Monaco, funds the fine arts.
put this on your list of things to do.

The performance was excellent. The theater is small but ornate and beautiful. It's designed by the same architect who built the Paris opera. Great acoustics. The seats are a bit small, but otherwise a great experience in Monaco. Enter the casino and buy a ticket at the box office right inside, There are program guides with a description of what's playing. No need to speak Italian/German/French as it is all translated on a display.

The opera is a really nice building right outside of Casino Square. It’s worth a picture stop if you are close by.

I have visited this opulent building on numerous occasions, attending classical opera or concert performances, but also on a less formal ones, like silent movie (The General with Buster Keaton) accompanied by full orchestra of The House or concert by German band playing vegetable instruments. Each occasion different, public different, but charm of Old Lady persestently felt.
Magnificent venue, with excellent acoustics and comfortable seats.I can not remember visiting even most reputable opera houses (La Scala,Nice etc.),which are kept to such a high standards.Formal event public is very formal as well, money do not speak, but shouts loudly-this is such a place.Pitty, that Salle Blanche, down in the Casino, which was used as a beautifuL setting for a drink before and/or couple drinks after, has been anected by game tables and lost its past function. But money speaks louder than art....
