There is an incredible amount of history on and around this square--which is attractive and very busy. The town hall is a primary building on the square, but not the most beautiful ones we have ever seen--by a long shot. It is worth the "walk by" and that is about all.

There is a lot going on in front of the building--much shopping!

Located at the main square, beautiful large building that houses an Info center on the ground floor. There is a large map of the city on the floor in the foyer. Public toilets near by.

Nice old building which has now been superseded but we had been told to walk thro as if going to offices and housed within is a new huge floor map of the Linz area by drone. Really interesting if you like maps. It's a bigger place than you think.

Linz is a beautiful town and typical of many you can see in Austria and Germany. The town hall is impressive and for history buffs, the balcony is where Hitler made his speech after Germany’s annexation of Austria.

The unique large scale photo map on the floor of the main foyer is an excellent tool for getting your bearings in Linz. Location facing the old city square is convenient. The balcony over the entrance is historically significant as the site from which Hitler announced the Anschluss of Austria in 1938. Our Danube River cruise group started our Linz walking tour from here.

We finished our walking tour in the main square, and had a look inside the old town hall. The most unusual feature is the large map of Linz on the floor of the building. You could track the River Danube through Linz, and also follow where you had walked.

The pink and white building dates back to the early sixteenth century and has been expanded several times. It is rather simple and has a short clock tower in one corner.

It houses the tourist information office and a map of the city. It is historically significant as it is from here that Hitler announced the annexation of Austria.

It is a beautiful historical building and definitely worth a short visit.

The main street and main square of this city have beautiful buildings, churches like the ursulines and carmelites, and a vibrant shopping scene, with many high-end stores and several covered galleries.

The Hauptplatz (main plazza) is nice, with good proportions. Have a look on the buildings around, the Town Hall is well refurbished. I had not enough time to try and see it inside.
