Overview
More
Among the 21 departments and institutions of the Joanneum Universal Museum, founded as the Joanneum in 1811, the Armoury is in a class of its own. Attracting around 55,000 visitors annually, it is the Joanneum's most-visited institution without an exhibitions role. Moreover, as the largest historic armoury in the world, it is a living memorial to a chequered, conflict-ridden past, whose bogeymen and prejudices are still with us.

It's been few years ago we have visited this museum and since then we always talk about it when in Graz. Such a small town with such an impressive little museum.

The collection was amazing. Makes you want to put on some armor. It was a nice place to slow the day down and really imagine what it may have been like back in the day.

It was worth a visit. As student we got discount, however, museum is not that expensive. You can really see some cool stuff and guide will tell you many interesting things. My favorite part was a horse armor. ;)

Unique world class moment in history. Arms and armour for 6,000 men from mid the 17th century. If you know your stuff, avoid the guided tour, but if you are just generally interested do take it. Outstanding attraction

Practically this would be a childrens army nowadays due to today's average body size. Nevertheless great place to get a feeling for past times.

We found info on this Armoury museum online and thought it sounded really interesting, so we decided to check it out. They say it's the world's largest historic armoury with 32,000 pieces of armor, weaponry, etc. It is still housed in the original building, which...More

As a clay shooting fan this was a must visit on our agenda. The collection is MASSIVE... All brand new, unused weapons and armour ready to equip an army of 6000 men! Everything is laid out neatly in dedicated storage, with separate sections for each...More
