Definately a must visit. Take the audio tour. The views from the tower are stunning. Places to eat and drink there as well.

Been around since late 900, early 1,000 AD so quite a piece of Austrian History. There is a funicular train to the top which includes and audio guided tour. Even though there is this incline rail be prepared to hike up and down miles of walking and stairs. Great views of Salzburg from the top. Worth a visit go during... More

If you have the Salzburg Card (I reccomend you get one)Visit before 11am and get into the State Rooms for free. There are sections to see inside which are beautiful plus some museums. We visited in December and there was a Christmas Market inside. We had a very nice glass of glűwein. The views of Salzburg are great. If you... More

Got the rail car up and walked back down, views were magnificent of the city and backdrop, supposed to be the largest preserved castle in central Europe but looks bigger from the outside than when your up there.

This fortress was built in the 11th century, and it's status is perfect. Curiosity in Europe. It's hard to get the top on foot, but it worths the powder and shot. We can go up and down with a funicular. Unfortunetly it was raining and cold, when we're walking inside, but we enjoyed the tour.

This was a great treat and is very well done with the audio guide. Walk up is not that difficult only took 15 minutes and we are both over 60. Go early or expect to wait in line for tour A.

Worth seeing if only for the view of Salzburg at the top. We took the ride up to the top which was sort of fun. My boyfriend enjoyed the exhibit that included some local WWI information and artifacts. There is food at the top and washrooms so you can spend a good part of the day there. I think a... More

Great historical point of Salzburg with spectacular views of the city from the tower. If visiting around holiday season, wear extra layers. Medieval spots are very chilly.
