The Festspielhaus is known primarily for the summer Salzburg Festival, which this year will take place from July 21 to August 30. Less well known is the "Sunday Matinees" program, held monthly at 11 AM, excepting festival times, which occur not only in summer but...More

The Festspielhaus is beautiful and impressive, and of course like many Salzburg tourists we were keen to see the Rock Riding School from the Sound of Music. Unfortunately, the tour guide was disinterested in this having been in the film (which makes her city SO...More

Don't miss this wonderful guided tour. It's only given once a day at 1400. Knowledgeable tour guide gave information in German and English. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing the history of this venue.

The Salzburg Festival is one of the meccas for classical music lovers. You can pretty much guarantee that anything you see there will be terrific. The Festspielhaus is a good hall, not the best acoustics, but more than adequate for the wide variety of the...More

To be honest, the tour guide was fantastic. She did the tour in both German and English and was very informative. But frustrating was the fact that nobody at the booking desk mentioned to any of us that we would not be viewing the rock...More
