a mini central park right in the heart of Vienna perfect for sitting in the sun. There is a lovely gold leaf statue of Strauss and a cool giant clock. There is a childrens play area too and the park is used a lot by dog walkers and joggers. The park is divided by a river and links the main... More

Large sprawling park that runs from the popular Ringstrasse to the Innere Stadt, this is a large urban park reminiscent of New York's Central Park. Plenty of hotels, restaurants and shops surround the park;

We walked through here most days during our visit to the city. Lots to see & a nice Mozart cafe in the grounds. Statues dotted around the grounds are interesting. Intrigued by what the Wiener Waltzer was, never found out! Just loved the name!

If you want to mingle with locals and visitors, and get a little taste of spring, complete with teens enjoying the sunshine and street musicians keeping you entertained, then go there.

This park seems huge, but I hadn't the chance to really enjoy it since it was raining heavily. You can eat at Steirereck here which is a major plus, and there is the famous Strauss statue.

In one of the novels by John Irving a character stays in Vienna at "Madison Grillparzer". I had always thought that this name was the product of artistic licence, but discovered a statue commemorating Herr Grillparzer in this beautiful park in the centre of Vienna. There are multiple rose gardens, elegant shaded areas, and at the fringes there are views... More

As this park was close to the hotel, we wandered through it on our way to the Stephansdom quarter. We can only imagine what it would be like in the summer with the fountains working as the colours were naturally drab except for the Johan Strauss monument. So much statuary dedicated to composers in a delightful setting, and a well... More

The Stadtpark is a link between the city center and the third district. Along the way you will see Viennese Art Nouveau in its purest form. Approaching from Ringstrasse along the shady paths you will suddenly come upon the airy park meadows and the popular Johann Strauss monument…the most photographed monument in Vienna. A nice place to sit and relax... More

I can only imagine how this place looks in summer time.. In January with sub zero temperatures it was not crowded at all. Statues around the lake, a small pond, trees and nice walk paths. It is small for stadtpark I have say. On the other hand you don't find parks of this side in the very heart of bigger... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
