Very nice day (or half day) trip within the city. Although I didn't see any animals, the hike was enjoyable and a relaxing break from the city. Stopped halfway through my hike at the Rohrhaus for lunch which exceeded expectations-- friendly waiter, good and quick service despite a busy day, reasonably priced, and big portions (my schnitzel was enough for... This very old wildlife park has been home to several wild animals dating back to several centuries now. The wildlife sanctuary is enclosed by a 22 Km long wall to keep the animals in and evil people out. One can access this wildlife haven from six different gates. The fact that it is located on the Viennese suburbs makes it... More

Nice place to relax, to recreation, to enjoy the nature. The woods had been used by Franz Joseph to hunt, now it is only for nature walks.

Those woods used to be a hunting ground for Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth ("Sissi"), but nowadays it is a well loved recreation area for the Viennese people and tourists.

One of the lesser known attractions in Vienna, the Lainzer Tiergarten is a hidden paradise. Relatively easy to access by public transport (only a 45 minute tram and bus ride from central Vienna) and with free entry this woodland oasis offers a variety of beautiful walks on well maintained (and signposted) paths. Never busy, you can enjoy a relatively secluded... More

The Lainzer Tiergarten is a wildlife location in the 13th district of Vienna. Almost all of it is covered in woodland, so it’s a perfect destination for long walks. What’s really lovely about this place is that you can either grab a lunch/coffee at the café or visit the museum in the Hermesvilla (or both of course).

Great park to visit, accessible via strassenbahn/bus - about 45-60 minute trip from city center. Lots of hiking trails, including one that gets great views of the city and surrounding countryside. 2-3 places to stop and have a drink or something to eat. Head to the "windmill" for the best views.
