A nice impressive square ....

.... but unfortunately in a city of many picturesque squares this is but one more and maybe not as impressive as some. Lots of places demanding your valuable time.

We walked down the side street from Donnagrasse and found the beautiful Donner Brunner fountain and statutes in Neuer markt. The place was less quiet than the main pedestrain but there were still many shops and coffee houses around.

This is not a tourist attract that you will going to, but rather something that can be seen in your travels. If on the Karntnerstrasse you will see a side street, either Donnergasse or Plankengasse. When you look down this side street, the statue of Donner Brunner as it is called will be visible, if you walk down you will... More

Does not compare with Stephansplatz, this is a very nice square in the historic city center not far from St Stephan's. Lots of shops and restaurants.

The market was frequented by locals and had a nice selection of fresh vegetables, cheeses and deli products. They also had nice wines to choose from as well as breads and a buffet bar. We shopped frequently to make dinner and was pleased with all of our purchase. Remember to bring a bag to put your items in...otherwise you will... More

This was a more relaxed square, beautiful architecture surrounding and of course the beautiful fountain in the middle. The square had a few restaurants and shops dotted around as well as the Dorotheum close by.

It is next to Kaerntnerstrasse, go there to admire more stunning buildings and its beautiful fountain.

This is a nice market place a bit off the beaten path in Vienna. There is a lovely, historic fountain there, and the staff at the surrounding shops and restaurants are very friendly.

It is, actually, one of the oldest squares in the city, contrary to its name. A very nice square with some magnificent buildings, a famous Donner fountain and the Capuchin Church with impressive Imperial Tombs. Definitively, a place to visit!

Very nice area. Loved the store fronts. Great place to take a walk and people watch. Expensive but stylish.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
