Huge monument, as Russians have only like those. :D A bit away from the city center. You wont miss much if you do not have enough time to visit. So if your trip is short skip this.

It is a large, pretty square with some very interesting buildings around, although the Red Army's monument doesn't quite fit well within it. The western face of the square is the prettiest I believe.

After visiting Belvedere Castle I run into this Hochstahlbrunnen fontain in the front of the Sovjet Monument behind. It shall been said that it was not water in the fountain because of too cold or not in use in the winter period. And then a little walk to Schwarzenbergplatz where the Monument You will see in my photo is placed... More

This area is quite stately and features a huge monument to the Soviet Soldier, which must remain here due to the treaty in 1955 which gave back Austria's independence after 10 years of occupation, a stipulation made by the soviet liberators of Vienna at the end of WW II. Since the soviet soldier depicted holds a sword and a shield,... More

The large square near Am Heumarkt was one of the beautiful landmark in the area and many local people come here to relax and children just cooled themselves under the water spray from the high fountain-jet. The fountain together with the high statue were built by the Russians to memorize those soviet soldiers who fought against the Nazi and liberated... More

It is a park, monument and water fountain all in one. Located about one block from our hotel, we passed by it everyday. The number 71 tram stops right by the park also. The fountain has a high spray that felt good on a couple of warm days, but on the couple of cold days, didn't feel so good. Brightly... More

In this square, which has a huge cooling fountain than can spray water anywhere but which is welcomed in the warmer weather, there is a large memorial designed and built and paid for by the Russians during their occupation of Vienna after the second world war. The Viennese, however, agreed to maintain it - which they have ! Strange though... More

The "Schwarzenbergplatz" is one of Vienna's most impressive squares, big, with a lot of beautiful old houses and a famous fountain and monument. And in summer you even can surf there ☺ .

There is a huge russian soldier statue on the square, remembering to the soviet soldiers who fighted against the nazis and liberated Vienna in 1945. There is also a nice fountain.
