Well worth it

Very lively and colourful space, with Cathedral dominating. Stalls, entertainers, historic buildings.

Vienna has always been a favorite city for me. Been to Vienna several times in my travels. One place I like is the market not far from the righ.

Well, without the church it would be really boring square with expensive shops and food. It didn't fulfill my expectations.

A nice walking street, crowded with tourists, concert hawkers, horse drawn carriages and more. But it's a fun street to walk down, lots of shops and places to eat and get coffee or ice cream.

This plaza is i think the heart of Vienna. it is near many of the historical attractions. i love the cobbled walks and the horses and their carriages, and the sight of St. Stephen Cathedral steeple from where ever you turn. There is a characteristic smell of horse urine stench, but it is still natural and not part of the... More

Great stop! Easy to get to by train. Tons of shops! The prices can very significantly for things at the souvenir shops, and chocolate shops so shop around first. It's a beautiful area with a really nice church!

This lively square in the heart of Vienna is an interesting mix of history, a beautiful cathedral, old buildings now housing shops and coffee houses, and restaurants. Much to do and see and many chances for people-watching. It's a busy and bustling place. The only complaint is that the many "Mozarts" on the square can be quite aggressive in trying... More

Old meets new around this plaza. It is a nice walk, great shopping (some really high end places, too, for those with deeper pockets), and some excellent cafes and things. It's like the little heart of Vienna, I suppose....

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
