The University of Vienna Botanic Garden lies adjacent to the Belvedere Palace estate so one can visit both in the same day. Entry to the Gardens is free and it is well worth spending some time enjoying the walks and huge variety of plants here. There is a large number of mature trees, plants native to Austria and many specimens... More

It's free to wander into the botanical garden..and soon I encountered many flowering plants in glorious April light. The dogwood were beautiful. White and pink..standing next to each other. I think I will have both. It was a lovely stroll away from the bustle of traffic. There are plenty of benches to enjoy drinks and snack. There was a plant... More

This botanical garden is administered by the University of Vienna. It is a lovely, quiet and extensive garden, next to the Belvedere Palace and the palatial gardens, but totally independent. The plants and trees are identified. There are nice paths for strolling, benches for resting and sitting. Worth a visit.

Not exceptionally good but nice and close the zoo. There was an art installation going on, wish I could stayed longer. But it's still just a botanical garden, what do you want.

I visited in late October and was dazzled by the gorgeous colors. This place oozed tranquility. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and stayed most of the afternoon. The pathways are laid out to reveal surprising vistas, there are 'hidden' gems to be discovered. Most of the sensitive plants were gone now, but the fall display was nevertheless awesome, so I... We visited in September and found the gardens a bit disappointing as lots of the plants were past their best this late in the season, so there was not much colour mainly green. It covers quite a small area so not a massive range of types of plants to see. However it is a nice green area to stroll in,... More

This time we planed to stay in green area in Vienna. Our hotel was immediately near the Botanical Garden, so every day, this was our passage to city or to Belvedere. If you are interested in plants and trees, you may spend around an hour. Or if you like to run, you can do it in a quiet place. You... More

A nice botanical garden, not as spectacular as those in Singapore, Montreal or Kirstenbosch garden near Cape Town, but a quiet and well appointed garden close to Belvedere Palace. Access is free, and you can visit different sections of the garden with different plants and trees. Strolling through the garden is a nice change after visiting Vienna palaces and museums.....

It is a bit different compared to the rest of the city. The garden is divided in sections and it is quite large. If you are interested in plants and trees, you may spend around and hour. It is for free and it is closed at 6 pm.
