The gardens are a beautiful place to take a walk or just sit by a fountain and enjoy the view. Even if the castle grounds are so full of tourists at times, the gardens and park are large enough so it doesn't seen crowded at...More

The gardens are behind the palace and are reached by walking around the sides of the main building. The flowers were in full bloom, it is very well planned formal garden, and the garden balcony cafe is within ten minute walking distance.

We visited here on a glorious day in May 2017. A pleasant walk around the gardens and although we were a little early in the year to see great floral displays we were able to watch the gardeners at work who planted at a great...More

The gardens are free to walk around in. I visited in the middle of May 2017 and there were fences set up around the flower patches and a crane was setting up a stage - disrupted the beauty of the gardens, but still lovely and...More

The gardens are very extensive but we were slightly disappointed that some of the area seemed to lack attention, even the formal gardens. Grass was uncut even in ornamental areas and was not quite as tidy was we expected

The Schonbrunner Gardens are absolutely magnificent if you enjoy walking - we walked for hours taking in the vistas, the mature trees and the plantings. If you prefer not to walk, a small train conveys people around. The grounds are so lush and green and...More

Nice walk in the Shonbrunn Palace, and the view is just amazing from the top. The Zoo was very nice and we enjoyed it. Animals were well taken care of and pretty organized.

Wow this place is busy now a days and even on colder days. Get there early or pre book any tours through the palace as the line to get tickets is longer than at the Louvre in Paris. I didn't go through the palace on...More

Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow
of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has
interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence
and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the
other half to discover the secret charms of this posh
residential neighbourhood. Sneak out of the gardens at
Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down

Hello, i am visiting the Gardens in December before accessing the Zoo. I am not going inside the Palace so i was wondering where is the entrance of the gardens? Is it from a side door? Please i need specific info because the website just has a map without any info! I want to know the exact entrance. Thanks in advance.

You don't need to go inside the Palace. Just take the subway to schoebrunn and you have more than one entrance to the Gardens :) Actually they are pretty nice, so take a look before or after the zoo ;)

You can go by U.bahn (U4), it takes maximum 15 min from anywhere downtown. You don't need a taxi in Vienna, the public transportation is excellent and faster than taxis.
