On a bitterly cold winter day, this is still worth the journey out. Whilst we didn't take any of the many pathways through the hillside, vineyards or woods, our 45 minute journey by public transport straight to the view point and church at Kahlenberg ensured...More

Largely based on the recommendations of others on Trip Advisor, on a cold but clear winter afternoon, we took the 38A bus out of Heiligenstadt to Kahlenberg and walked down the Stadtwanderweg. The seasonal vineyards and winery stands were closed, but the walk on the...More

This is a marvelous place that tells you all about Vienna - the Danube, the generosity, the tolerance, the future

After a drive with curvy road to the top you can visit a small church, eat something in a restaurant offering great view over Vienna or go for a walk to the top of the mountain. There is a free car park available by the...More

We took the bus up here and took some time to hike around and see the views. Beautiful little church, restaurant, and some statues. Take a jacket! We had planned to hike down but just too windy and cold. The bus ride down was like...More

This is a must for the visitor of Vienna - the view over the city, the cafe at the top and the walking tour to the top. Don't forget the 'Heuriger's - the small outdoor places which serves the wine made of this years harvest.

You go there by the train or bus. You don’t have to pay to enter however; nice cafe with good coffee at the top. The Kahlenberg lies in the Vienna Woods and is one of the most popular destinations for day-trips from Vienna, offering a...More

In Kahlenberg and its surroundings, one can take a nice hiking, eat some good ice cream, but also visit the church on the square of the hill that tells a bit of the history of Austrian, Poles and Turks. And, of course, appreciate nice views...More

Amazing view on Vienna. 2 restaurants and 1 was closed so very long waiting time to get Your drinks or food. Came here by accicent because our bus had a technical problem but it was a nice place. Lots of people though.

Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most
romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its
many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby
Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls
through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of
a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are
Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns,
and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill –

No issue if you go by bus up to the hill. If you go by D Tram to the foot of the hill in Nussdorf, I recommend a stroller for the almost 300 highmeter up.

Yes and yes Angela, there are paths that interlink with the road on which the bus runs, so you could walk part of the way and ride if the rest if you want. It's wise to ride up, it's long way down to Grinzing again where you... More

The Kahlenberg is fairly flat at the top. The 38A bus goes there, you can pick it up at Grinzing, which is reached from the Schottentor by the 38 tram. Most tram routes now include low-floor trams, I am sure the tourist... More
