Bodo cathedral was completed in 1956. A 12 metre stained glass window, 10 tapestries from Nordland, and a rose window decorate the beautiful interior. The cathedral is built as a basilica in the Gothic style. It was designed by the architects Blakstad & Munthe Kaas and was one of the first churches in Norway to have a detached steeple. Free admission.

Night Jazz concert

Amazing good performing by Bodø Cathedral choir with solo artist Frode Alnæs, who was guest singer/ gitar player and composed all the melodies and songs for this special concert

Bodo cathedral is an interesting modern structure, part of the postwar rebuilding of the town. Definitely worth a visit to see the stained glass.

I don't know how often concerts are put on. The one we attended was part of our cruise itinerary. But if you get the opportunity to attend a concert, do yourself a favour,go to it - it was beautiful! To hear the 5600 pipe organ played by the Cathedral Organist was a once in a lifetime experience (and I am... More

Girlfriend and I stopped in on a weekend. Only person inside (who we could see) was practicing on the organ, which sounds beautiful. We stood and listened for a few minutes. I would see if services or any sort of performances occurring during your stay, if only to hear the organ. Very pretty, bright interior.

Worth 15 minutes if you're walking past. It's beautiful in it's simplicity and lack of ostentation. Very simple. I loved the steel heating pipes under each pew.

Detached steeples seem to be a trend in Bodo as we saw a few buildings with this design. This church by far was the best example of this style. Unfortunately closed during our visit so can't comment on the interior.

If you're into Mid-Century architecture, churches, architecture in general, or you're in Bodo area Domkirke is worth a visit. If you're in one of the high-rise hotels you're not going to miss the church; it is located at the top of the hill. The inside has modern religious crosses, lighting, stained glasswork. The nave is modern and accessible to tourists.
