Very good museum with good facilities and nice arrangement of audio visual interface. War explains the pain taken by the people and explains why Narvik port was so important as it never freezes. Excellent demonstration of warships through computer interface and lots of warships and real machinery to see. Many people may not be interested in such museums but I... More

One reason for visiting Narvik was because my husband's father had fought here during the War. This museum helped explain the subsequent occupation of Norway by the Nazis in all his horrific and industrial scale.

Much better than the old museum I visited 20 years ago. Interesting displays, thoughtful presentation, helpful staff. Even a piece of Tirpitz to wonder at.

The Battle of Narvik is all explained in the new museum created, along with details of the action taken by the local populace in harassing the German efforts after they occupied Norway. Well displayed awith English translation

More

I am sorry to hear that you did not like the new museum. For your information the museum is almost twice as large as the old one and it contains far more text that the old one (approximately 17.000 word in Norwegian), all exclusively written for the museum. At the heart of all storytelling lies identifying your audience and the... More

I'm not a ww2 war freak or anything. But the new war museum in Narvik was to my liking. First they show some history and then an excellent exhibition about why we have wars and can we avoid them? It really got us to thinking.

The museum has only recently been re-situated and is very informative about events in Narvik during the war. It provides a mass of photos, information boards, maps etc and provides a real understanding of the events of the period. For any traveller to the area this is an essential 2-3 hours visit.

The displays are interestingly displayed in various ways and the information is thought provoking about war, its causes and effects.

Being on summerholiday and nearly finishing Hans Falladas book " Alone in Berlin" this museum left a deep impression of war and its influence on civil populations across europe. The last floor about now and the future added a nessecary perspective to the theme war.

We visited the museum in July 2016. The museum has been relocated in a new building since early July, just opposite the old museum. It tooks us about 90 minutes to go through the small but interesting exhibit, divided in 3 sections : the battle of Narvik in 1940; life under 5 years of occupation; an exhibition about the future....
