Only saw the outside but there is lots of history in the church in a town where half is modern and the other half old, mainly due to a fire in the town in 1996.

I am not sure why this was closed a few times we visited but from the outside, Tromso Cathedral is a site to visit. The lovely architecture made of wood, said to have been completed during the 1880s.

My first visit to the Domkirke was late in the night. It was pitch dark and snowing heavily. I landed at the airport, checked in at my accommodation and took a bus to the city and got down here to look for a food joint....More

This is a large wooden church which in a way defines the center of town. There is a major restructuring of the street and square pavement outside the church which, when completed, will improve the ground around. Nothing much in term of design and interior.

as entrance was closed we could watch only outside fassade and park in front of church - outside impression quite ok and typical building and construction for scandic buildings of modern times

This 1861 wooden cathedral is lovely on the outside. Unfortunately it has very specific opening and closing times. They do hold concerts over summer in it, but it was closed when I went there. There was also a large amount of road works happening around...More

This beautiful church sits right in the heart of central Tromso and is within easy walking distance of most downtown hotels and attractions. Although we did not get a chance to go inside, the outside is remarkable for its architecture and striking presence. The grounds...More
