- casswifeDunfermline, United Kingdom1,552 contributionsBeautiful building!A beautiful old wooden building right in the centre of Tromso. The first time we visited was in the dark so saw it lit up amongst the beautiful snow and the lights of all the surrounding shops. It's got a great warm and welcoming feel inside and the upper balconies reminded me of some of the older churches back home in Scotland... a must visit when in Tromso.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 5, 2023
- PWStaffordshireStaffordshire, United Kingdom109 contributionsPretty cathedralPretty cathedral in the middle of Tromso. Unless you are particularly interested in religious architecture I would say 30 mins is more than sufficient to take a look around. There is no charge to enter, but obviously a donation to help the up-keep is welcome.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten December 20, 2023

- GlobetrottingVikingThatcham, United Kingdom3,280 contributionsBeautiful Wooden ChurchThis beautiful building is the only cathedral in Norway made of wood. It has a few striking stained glass windows and a classic 'Sunday-school' type altar painting. There are two organs, one in the usual place at the back gallery, and one at the front of the church. The interior has a pleasing colour scheme in pale yellow and grey and a stylish gallery on both sides as well as at the back.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten August 16, 2024

Tromso is really magical place to me. I really love this small and nice city.
It is located north of Norway with nice site seen of see, jangle and polar light. This city has small air port and it tack 2 hours of Oslo to there by plan. There is a bus for transfer airport to city and back. The weather is nice and cold...

Picturesque setting with snow and dark blue skies in winter. Very helpful and hospitable deaconess who told us the history of the Church, the only timber cathedral in Norway. Beautiful interior with its timber structures. Not to be missed.

We walked across the Tromso bridge to visit the Cathedral. A great thing to do if you have the time. Must confess if I couldn’t go to a concert, the appeal was the outside. We were not disappointed. It is touristy as a lot of people want to visit, but well worth the effort.

Top location in the old town. Almost daily concerts inside the cathedral. Also a point of orientation for walking around the city.

Fronting onto the main street, this imposing church it’s a must stop location for couple of photos. Not necessarily an impressive architecture in general, but a great contrast in the city center of Tromsø.
