Amazing what grows in the Arctic circle! And a free activity which is always a bonus in overpriced Norway. Lovely views from the gardens and a pleasant walk there along the docks.

We enjoyed wandering these extensive gardens, learning about arctic plants and seeing them growing in a very natural landscape.

Though the gardens were quite small and near the main road I was very impressed with the use of space. The walk was very immersive, they had clearly thought a lot about the design and the plants fit the area and landscape perfectly. The little plaques of information were also very informative. I was dissapointed that i just missed the... More

Great displays and good information about early settlers and their exploits capturing fur animals and food stuffs as well as explorers who battled ice and weather to explore the arctic.

The Tromso Arctic-Alpine Botanic Garden certainly surprised me. Such a beautiful garden so far north with plants and flowers form so many world destinations was astonishing. This is a must to visit.

It was nice taking a bus from town to go for the walk round these great gardens (Its one big garden split into sections). However, it didn't take long to walk round, and there didn't seem anything else to do in the immediate area, hence the tip. Tip: So what we did, was to walk up towards the ski jumps,... More

Even though early September, still lots to see at this gem of a spot. Take the bus or drive as the 3km walk from town is rather industrial. The cafe is now closed for the Autumn / Winter season but don't let that put you off. Well worth it!
