This is one of the best buildings in Oslo in my opinion. Beautifully designed and uniquely built to look like it rises out of the ground. Even if you are not going to a performance it is well worth a visit. Equally stunning both day and night I found, but walk up onto the roof at night to see the... More

If you come after closing hours, you can still wander up to the roof. Always nice to catch the view from this spot. :) I can go there many times.

Location is close to the train station about 5 minutes, very good place to go and cool of when the train is late again! I have been there many times and I really like to walk to different places on the roof and enjoy different views of the city like Oslofjorden, the Islands,Ekebergrestauranten(up on the hillside),barcode buildings and Akerselva flowing in to... I have wanted to visit this opera house since it was built in 2008 and finally got to see an opera there [The Return of Ulysess] in January. Built on Oslo Fjord, it affords some lovely panoramic views across the harbour from the rooftop. Personally, I really like it's modernistic design. Internally, it was as expected but nothing spectacular. Well... More

We booked the Magic Flute in January and actually didn't read much about the show. It was a very unique opera. We had a great time despite everything being in Norwegian (we just read along the translation on the screen) the building is great. The only thing I didn't get was the bathrooms. The bathrooms are only downstairs and they... More

The opera house is well worth a visit, even if you are not going to a performance. The architecture both inside and out is impressive. In the foyer you can see the “Wave Wall”. There is also a café and free toilets. You can walk up the gently sloping roof for great views of the harbour and the sculpture “She... More

The review is of a tour, which was provided in English The Opera and Ballet facility is noteworthy in its attractiveness, features, position within the waterfront location, and position in Norway's fine arts heritage. My wife and I found it an easy walk from our hotel, and just a short hop from the central tourist information facility at the Oslo... More

I was fortunate that I was able to book an English speaking tour last minute. From a layman and photographers standpoint, the Opera house is spectacular. The interior, including the woodwork, windows and flowing staircases, are beautiful. The tour included an appropriate mixture of the architecture and the "guts" of the building. The back stage work areas, the costume areas... More
