If you find yourself in Oslo and wanted to get away from the busy street in town, take a metro to this museum and experience Munch, the creator of the scream! Recommended

An excellent special exhibit - Into the Woods - co-curated by the author Karl Ove Knausgård. The museum is in the middle of a beautiful park. A good museum restaurant of the coffee shop type. The exhibit included many works unknown to us. The museum...More

The Munch Museum in Oslo has the largest collection of his work in the world. Visiting the museum this April was one of the most disappointing experiences I can remember for a very long time. The museum is between exhibitions and, despite the large number...More

The Good: A museum dedicated to a single artist with the most number of works...in the world! The film about his life and the history of Hannah, his associate and model, was excellent and very moving. Unlike most museums, the Munch is open seven days...More

Enjoyed the opening film to get a sense of the artist and his drive. Limited pieces left on exhibit....kind of disappointing, nothing on the web indicated this would be the case. But it was free and a nice walk over through the part from the...More

Unfortunately in an old fashioned building in a part of Oslo where you find nothing else of interest. However, the museum displays all the best and most famous of Munch's works, including the Scream

Being for me Norway's most famous artist I was a bit disappointed. Staff not very friendly. They don't have a permanent exhibition only a special one which was a very strange and noisy (April 2017) for my taste. I know they build a new big...More

A disappointing visit; Munch's works were being aligned to a modernised film version of Madame Bovary - the connection was very tenuous, the pictures on display not necessarily Munch's best. We enjoyed the Botanical Gardens across the road much more!

Started with a film about Munch, very interesting perhaps a bit too long. We had hoped to see the "Scream" in the flesh but it was not home. Impressed by the rest of his works, his enormous production and the lay-out of the museum.

OK, I'll admit that it's bit silly to go to a museum just to see one painting in particular, like all the hordes in the Louvre who rush by countless great works of art just to check the Mona Lisa off their bucket list. But...More
