I have visited a number of galleries around Europe and this one in Oslo was charming. The fee means that only people that are interested visit – this means it was a little more quiet than others I have visited! The layout was simple and well thought out. Lots of English signs and notices were appreciated. However one of the... More

It can be a bit confusing to find your way through artmuseums in Oslo, because there are many different locations. The national gallerys website does not help you. But this is the museum with a wide range of norwegian painter and sculptors. Norwegians know their names and artwork from primary school. The audioguide is very good - spend the extra... More

Unexpectedly interesting even though I usually don't appreciate art museums/galleries as much as other museums. A large part can be attributed to the good organisation/layouts of the halls and exhibits (mostly paintings), thoughtful descriptions at each hall, and a wide variety of genres/styles across different periods in history. So the eyes and mind were constantly intrigued. Take time to read... More

How can any art lover pass up a visit to this great museum with such a great collection of paintings. Of course the majority of us are coming to see Munch's 'The Scream' but that's not all they have to offer. The entrance price is reasonable and the place is very enjoyable to walk around and it's not huge were... More

We had to go here to see Scream but other than that we were at the museum for under 15 minutes. I think its worth a quick stop in Oslo unless you are really interested in Norwegian paintings.

The building itself has some beautiful features very art deco. The exhibits are varied and many something for most people I think. I seem to remember mostly modernish art.

One of the most fantastic experiences during our time in Oslo. So many incredible artists under one roof and beautifully curated. Wish we had longer here as an hour didn't give it justice. Well worth a visit. A must if you are visiting Oslo.

We got free access after the Viking Boat museum, most attractions were shut for reservations. The arctic display was worth viewing.

My family members wanted to see Edvard Munch 'Madonna' and ' The Scream' paintings. This is Norway's largest museum full of art, architecture and sculptures. You do have to pay to get in but seniors I think was 60 Krones, and adults 100 krones.
