We travelled from Bergen to Oslo on a beautiful sunny day. From sea level to above the treeline the scenery was breathtaking. We traveled Komfort class purchasing the tickets online directly from NSB. Prices tend to drop 90 days out, we got a senior discount...More

We booked on the rail journey between Bergen and Oslo on line and it was an easy and efficient process. The train was clean and well set up. The staff were most helpful and, being disabled, it was easy for me to travel with their...More

From Oslo to Bergen you climb over the mountain and back to Sea Level. As you climb the scenery changes from lush forests to barren rock mountain tops. There are glaciers at the top of the mountain and this is where "The Empire Strikes Back"...More

We travelled in comfort class and it was indeed very comfortable. The train has a cafe and the views were stunning. The 7 hours to Oslo went quickly.

Beyond the city, Norway is really most famous for it's high mountains and grand fjords. The Bergen Railway is an excellent way to see some of these landscapes with comfort. Recommend to sit in the cafe-wagon and to visit some of the stations (if able)

Such an enjoyable ride from Oslo to Bergen! Just beautiful views through the mountains and a wonderful way to get to Bergen. We had great seats - forward facing, big windows, no one across from us - just perfect. A word of advice. Unless you...More

This was the highlight of our trip. You won't know which side of the train to look out of- there is such incredible beauty the whole way! We would both do it again in a heartbeat

Took this to Flåm & Bergen, very scenic train ride, would take over flying if you have the time. The seats were comfortable and has large windows to take pictures of the scenery. Takes a decent amount of time to get to Bergen to Oslo,...More

I bought ours through our travel agent here in upstate NY and she got it through Rail Europe. We paid $110 each with an extra Rail Europe $32 charge. However, I met a woman who bought it through a Norwegian friend and she... More
Greetings: My husband and I are flying to Norway on July 18, 2017. We are spending 2 nights in Oslo and moving on to Bergen by train. The current plan is to spend two nights in Bergen before boarding the Hertigruten cruise north for 4 nights, getting off in Tromos. From there we are flying inn to Stockholm. My question is: When we take the train from Oslo to Bergen is it advised to add the Nutshell tour portion knowing we are also going on the cruise north? The nutshell tour sounds amazing but doing the whole trip in one day sounds like a lot to do and it will be peak tourist time when we are there. We could spend one night midway in the tour cutting our time in Bergen to 1 night and just part of a day before boarding the cruise. Seeking advice about simply taking the train straight to Bergen and enjoying that city for 2 nights and 1.5 days or should we see as much as possible including the nutshell tour and cutting our time in Bergen? Thank you so much. Kristy

Hi kristy, I would spend two days in Bergen, there is so much to see and do that I feel you would be short changing yourself. Bergen very rich in its culture that I'd plump for four days rather than a shorter stay, make... More
