About
The Palace Park, one of the Norwegian capital’s first and largest parks, surrounds the Royal Palace on all sides. It features grassy areas and flowerbeds as well as old, majestic trees. It is a popular place to rest - with tourists and the city's own populations both. The Palace Park was developed simultaneously with the construction of the Royal Palace in the mid-1800s. The part of the park called the Queen’s Park dates all the way back to 1751.Most of the park is open to the public all year. The Queen's Park is open during the summe season, from 18 May to 1 October, between 7 AM and 8 PM. The Palace Park is a protected cultural monument and is managed by the Palace gardeners.

We visited here in December so it's probably not ideal as it's cold, windy and wet, and therefore most flowers have all but gone. It's nice that you can walk through the palace park free and get so close to the palace. It's probably better visiting in the spring and summer when all the flowers have blossomed and flowered.

The Palace Park is very well designed place for a relaxing walk or rest. It is almost impossible not to be close to this park while visiting Oslo. Therefore, it is one of the must see locations there.

The very pretty grounds surrounding the Royal Palace. Unfortunately, I walked it in the rain but it was still a great experience. Look for the out of the way - not much noticed little areas in which I can imagine reading a book on a nice summer day.

This park is great on a warm summer day. Bring some bred to feed the birds in the ponds, join the meditation groups or pack a picnic. You can walk al the way up to the castle and in summer times you can even enter the kings castle

This is a very nice garden surrounding the palace

Nice place to sit and relax. Beautiful garden, water and banches. It is worth to visit it if the day is nice.

One of our guidebooks described this as a garden, which is not really true. It is a lovely landscaped park with some interesting sculptures designed by kids. The signs say they are restoring the plantings, but right now, you see far more flowers in the copious planters on the streets than you do in this park.

This beautiful park around the king's palace is open to all. There are families, sunbathers, walkers, cyclists, tourist groups, of course, business people walking into town. Every time I am in Oslo...about 25 times so far, I walk through this park, and enjoy the scenery and the people. It is a passage way from Majorstuen to Johannes Gate and the city center.

Nothing to see in the palace park before spring. Palace is worth a look though. Plan to return in the spring or summer when everything should look a little less grey.

How far from the cruise ship terminal to the Royal palace?

My best guess would be around 1,5 kilometers from the main cruise terminal by Akershus fortress.
