It says something when someone who is Norwegian wants to show you their heritage and is treated like an invader from another planet at the entrance gate! This poorly signposted place is guarded by the gatekeepers ,who want your money before anything and we were...More

I love stave churches, and although this one is not the original but a copy of the original, it is very well build. Small inside, with lovely carvings. And it is situated in a very nice place, a small wood outside Bergen. A must!

Beautiful church. The exterior and the interior are both amazing. Docent provides some very interesting information regarding this church and the history of this type of church.

We went to see the church, used the toilets on the way (10NOK, free for paying customers). However, discovering that the church was 60NOK per person, we thought it is not worth the money. As we were leaving, a guy came to charge us because...More

A unique building, something that it is not encountered often. It requires walking to the church through the woods.

The inside is a completely new construction because the old one burnt. You have to pay to get in, it will not take you more than 5 minutes to see all there is, honestly not worth paying to get in. They put a fence around...More

Although this is a reconstruction, as the original was destroyed in a recent fire, the replica stave church is entirely authentic in appearance. The location in a peaceful park is a bit hard to reach but lovely and worth the effort.

who can tell you about these kind of churches and this one specifically - the construction, history, use, etc. they're so interesting!

This stave church is amazing. The Vikings used their amazing shipbuilding skills to build these types of beautiful churches. The outside of the church is real nice. You have to board a train to get here from the city center. Make sure you get off...More

We didn't actually go inside- we had just arrived and not yet taken out Norse kroner due to our timing. You will need cash to get inside. Once I realized it has been reconstructed in the last couple decades after a jerk of a guy...More

We took the public transit out and back with no problem. I would check to make sure it is open. It's a little hike up to the church.

You tak the light rail (Bybanen) to the "Fantoft" stop. On the opposite side of the building next to the stop you take follow the road up the hill and then take the path through the forest. From the stop it takes about 10... More
