The gardens are a visual treat. Springtime is obviously up there as the best time to visit. But why oh why do such well tended and loved grounds invariably end up with a motorway service cafe?

After a wonderful walk round the park, where so much work has been done to improve the paths, we stopped for a snack lunch at the cafe. There was very little choice for the children's 5 items in a bag. But much worse was the very slow queue to order hot food and pay. More staff are needed to serve... More

A lot of improvements here that make it a great place for a walk and fresh air. Cafe needs to sort themselves out. Breakfast finishes at 11.00. Lunch menu starts at 12.00, nothing in between. Staff answered the question as to the soup of the day and then said we could not have it until 12.00

Lovely parklands with walks through woodland, down to the shore line and across meadows. Free parking at the moment but a donation is suggested, and maybe they will soon charge. Good cafe and toilet facilities and great for picnics too. Occasionally there are exhibitions in the, house and if you book in advance even a Segway excursion!
