Colchester Zoo is constantly developing and has won many awards for its work. With over 270 species to see, set in 60 acres of beautiful parkland and lakes, Colchester Zoo is well worth a visit. As you walk around the zoo there's plenty of play areas to try out including the indoor soft play area Jungle Tumble with a section for under 3s and all new play equipment where the kids can release their wild side! New enclosures include a walk through enclosure with butterflies and another with Rainbow Lorikeets offering visitors a chance to feed them a treat of nectar. Plus there's 'Bears of the Rising Sun', a state of the art enclosure which houses two beautiful sun bears , Jo Jo and Srey Ya. You can also come face to face with Komodo Dragons, see white rhino, giraffes, ostrich and kudu roaming together at Kingdom of the Wild and walk underwater through the 24m tunnel at the Playa Patagonia sealion pool. Learn more about the animals and see them up close by watching one of the 50 daily displays. You even get the fantastic opportunity to feed the elephants and giraffes yourself and take a ride on the 'Lost Madagascar Express' road train! Don't forget to pop into the discovery centre and have a go at handling some unusual bugs or get your face painted and transform yourself into your favourite animal!

Me, my boyfriend and two teenage kids came for the day and to be homest it was amazing. We fed elephants and giraffes and saw some wonderful animals. We all loved it and enjoyed every minute we were there. Big thumbs up to the people working there who were friendly and great and had to put up with the heat... More

For my boyfriend birthday present I had paid for us to feed the Tigers. What an experience!!! The zoo keeper was funny, chatty and knew his stuff. We spent about 45 mins in there! It was amazing feeding the Tigers and learning so much about them!! We had a meal voucher included and got waited on hand and foot. We... More

We bought our tickets online, which saved us a bit, although it is still quite an expensive day out so definitely a treat! With our e-tickets it meant no queuing for tickets on arrival - we printed off the tickets from a machine and went straight in. We were very impressed by the variety of animals to see. My 6... More

I was bought a zookeeper for the day experience for my birthday. This is a great experience and you are able to see behind the scenes of what makes a great zoo and work with the amazing caring people who look after these gorgeous animals. I experience cleaning , feeding and meeting orangutan, penguins and seals, cheetahs, hyenas and more.... More

Our first problem was on arrival when we tried to use our Tesco club card vouchers, only to be told these weren't accepted anymore, despite the lady at the front saying they are and the website saying they do. We felt we didn't want to waste a journey so chose to pay full price and spend be day there anyway.... More

More than a Zoo. A little bit hilly so plan your walk well. Attractions well spaced and staff very friendly. A super day out for all the family. It won't break the bank!

This zoo is brilliant for small children and big kids. Great admission prices, £22 per adult for day or an annual pass for £60! Can't go wrong. Soft play, feeding the goats, donkeys and wallabies all for free. Food prices really good value however they have a picnic area for you to eat your pack up. All around great place... More

Had not been here for a few years but as soon as you pull into the car park it comes back to you. The car park is very informal and parking is easy. The routes you can drive on go within feet of the queue and entrance so take care with you little ones and those less observant. It's not... More

Of all the zoos we've visited in the Uk this is by far our favourite. All public areas & animal enclosures are well maintained and very clean. It has a good selection of animals and the layout is great for small children as distances aren't too bad for little legs. The admission price is a little steep but as you... More

Lovely exhibits which allowed a lot of space for the animals whilst still keeping them visible to visitors. Great layout so the zoo never felt really busy (except from around one very popular playground with a fantastic slide!) staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Great hands on experiences (even though I stood outside and watched the birds being fed nectar... More
