The Gardens and Arboretum at Marks Hall form an unmissable attraction in the Essex countryside. Marks Hall combines many English traditions with beautiful formal gardens, a stunning Arboretum with an enviable collection of mature trees from across the world, woodland and leafy paths to walk on for miles. A visit to Marks Hall will inspire a need to return time and time again seeing new things as they happen throughout the year.

This is the second time we have been to Marks Hall whilst the sculpture exhibits are there. The gardens themselves are well worth a visit especially the walled garden but when the exhibition is on it really does warrant a visit. It provides a lovely...More

A great place to walk around and admire views. Probably best to wear strong footwear as lots of trails are uneven. There are footpaths, but not many. The little cafe is friendly and offers a good choice of snacks and drinks. Clean toilets. I would...More

Visited today with my partner. I have always enjoyed our visits to Marks Hall and the current sculpture trail is an excellent further attraction. You can easily spend 2 or 3 hours in these gardens finishing up with tea and cakes. Unfortunately the exhibition finishes...More

My family and I enjoy visiting this estate, plus there is currently a sculpture exhibition throughout the gardens and arboretum. Lovely part with new Zealand trees and some silver birch too. The coffee shop serves breakfasts I see, lunches and ok cakes.

Lovely grounds and sculpture exhibition placed throughout the ground, always something else to see round the next corner. Super tea rooms and fairly priced. Recommended for a nice gentle potter around superbly kept grounds and it's fun to feed the fish too

I can't recommend this beautiful place enough. The children love feeding the fish. The eucalyptus trees are wonderful. Lots of walking. Only down side not enough toilets. They could do with one at the other end near the play area perhaps.

Hi, thanks for your question. We have a network of hard paths which mean it is accessible for wheelchair users. The paths don't cover everywhere in the Arboretum (we have over 200 acres!) but do offer access to the central... More
