Every time I park nearby, I walk through the Priory, and there is always a group of homeless or junkies... and I don't feel 100% safe. Would NEVER go at night time! The place is dirty, cans, cigarette butts...

It took a long time to find the priory, the signage in the town as a whole was poor. On arrival we were met by noisy, barracking people, drinking or worse who made us feel unwanted. Tried again later and the position was the same....More

Seeing the old parts of Colchester are very cool. The history in the city is just amazing. We enjoyed every moment of the tours.

Though surrounded by busy town life, it is a peaceful place. You can just relax here, imagine what the place used to look like in the time of its glory.. And you can be sure there'll be some squirrels accompanying you :)

Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. There are enough ruins left for you to imagine what the place looked like before the priory was closed by Henry VIII and ruined during the Siege of Colchester in 1648. There is a small park...More
