Constructed on the foundations of the Temple of Claudius, built when Colchester was the first Roman capital of Britain, the Castle Museum today reveals many fascinating layers of history to visitors. Great visit. The museum inside is certainly up to date and hands on. Really imaginative reconstruction within the ancient walls. Set in beautiful parkland and telling the comprehensive history of Colchester it both educates and entertains.
