Great introduction to military history. On a family trip to the castle and museum my nephew then 2.5 years was genuinely interested in the Morse code machine, uniforms and riot gear. The right size museum for engaging children's interest. Highly recommend.

Spent a good couple of hours going round the castle and museum. It’s well laid out and definitely worth a visit. The museum gives an insight into our soldiers lives during the wars. The staff are really welcoming and very knowledgable.

Situated within the grounds of Carlisle Castle, it provides the interesting history of the individual Cumberland and Westmoreland Regiments, as well as the Royal Borders' Regiment (which was a merger of the two previous regiments). Certainly fascinating reading about their history, especially in India during...More

Unfortunately as Judy has pointed out, parking on the Parade Square is for staff and Blue Badge holders only. There is a pay and display car park next to the castle which is a short distance away Matt, Museum Assistant

Hello, the nearest car park to us is Devonshire Walk pay and display which is just round the corner from the castle. However if you are a disabled badge holder you can park inside the Castle.
